Moderator, Anne Garrels, was an NPR senior foreign correspondent for more than
20 years. Author of Naked in Baghdad,Garrels was one of the 16 American journalists who
remained in Bagdad and reported live during the 2003 Iraq War. She received the 2003
Courage in Journalism Award from the International Women's Media Foundation.
Christopher Little: Author of Fallingwater, has worked as a freelance photographer for
more than thirty years. Little’s photographic assignments have taken him to all fifty states
and seventy-seven countries. He has been the principal photographer of twelve books
including Fallingwater, Atlantic High, Racing through Paradise with
William F. Buckley, Jr., and The Rockbound Coast, which he also wrote.
Gully Wells: is the author of The House in France, a memoir of her mother Dee Wells,
the glamorous and rebellious American journalist, and step-father A. J. Ayer, the celebrated
Oxford philosopher. She was born in Paris, brought up in London, educated at Oxford,
and moved to New York in 1979. Wells is the features editor of Condé Nast Traveler
magazine. This is her first book.
Dorothy Wickenden: Author of Nothing Daunted, has been the executive editor
of The New Yorker since January 1996. She also writes for the magazine and is the
moderator of its weekly podcast “The Political Scene.” A former Nieman Fellow at Harvard, Wickenden was national affairs editor at Newsweek from 1993-1995 and before that was the longtime executive editor at The New Republic.
