What is Sexual Assault? Sexual assault is sexual contact forced upon a person without consent. Sexual assaults are crimes which include rape, attempted rape, unwanted sexual touching , child sexual abuse and incest, as well as voyeurism, exhibitionism, obscene phone calls, and exposing children to pornography or sexual acts. In crimes of sexual assault, sex is used as the weapon. Rape is an act of power, control and domination. No one, regardless of dress or behavior, deserves to be sexually assaulted. No one is immune from the possibility of sexual assault. Sexual assault victims have been as young as a few weeks old and as old as 95. Men as well as women can be sexually assaulted.  Facts about Sexual Assault: 1/4 girls are sexually assaulted by the time they are 18. 1/6 boys are sexually assaulted by the time they are 18. 78 women over the age of 18 are raped in the United States every hour, 683,000 every year.
