Polly Doremus, one of the founding Board members of
Susan B. Anthony Project, dreamed of a thrift shop to raise money to
support the agency's programs. As a result, Polly's Dream opened in 1994 in New Hartford, CT. In 1997, the thrift shop was relocated to a building in Torrington at 116 Water Street. After nine years at that location, on December 15, 2006, Polly's Dream closed its doors due to operating losses and the need for extensive repairs to it's building.
